Yes, it is possible to try an alternative vaccine rather than one of the ones given, remembering Dr. Sue's point.
If it is worth trying the vax later of course depends on several things. Even reactions in which a ferret passes out are not necessarily as serious as those where the blood pressure goes down even further, or if there is also rapid fluid loss, or also serious respiratory inflammation. Some degrees of even a serious systemic reaction can be risked with pre-medicating, but some can't (spoken as someone who has been in both situations). It's very individual and the vet will have a grip on that.
How much of a threat canine distemper is varies among areas and years so that is something else we've found that our local vets follow carefully.
