I will try to be as brief as possible. I have a 7 year old spayed Marshall's ferret that had a growth removed from her throat. The mass was approx.2x3 cm and was sent out for pathology. The histopathology findings are Osteosarcoma, with some chondrosarcomatous differention. Prognosis guarded. This growth was extended from the ferrets sternum and the report indicates this is unusual and they have seen a few cases involving long bones. The problem is that less than a month after surgery the growth appears to be back and growing. (surgery was performed 2/13/2004) My question of the group and Dr's is there any know treatment outside of surgery for this problem? A second surgery is almost out of the question as it has returned sor quickly. If there are any questions on the histopathology report I can scan it and send it.
