Given that you're doing it only for Nyssa who had the severe reaction,
it's well worth the inconvenience. I just can't imagine doing it as a
routine pretreatment, which is kind of what I was thinking. I'm sure
you've considered this already, but...could you learn to give the dex
at home? SC injections aren't all that hard if you have help. It's
the deep IM ones that scare the heck out of me.

See, one of my vets prefers dex over Benadryl as a *routine*
pretreatment, which is why your post caught my attention. So, even
though you were talking about a severe case (and you made that clear),
I was thinking of the usual pretreatment too. The dose I mentioned
was for routine use - I can well bet your vet may use a higher dose
for Nyssa.

Take your time on asking your vet about it. Now that I realize it is
EACH OF three days, it makes a lot more sense anyway. I'm willing to
bet that the three day treatment gives a stronger immune-suppressive
response than the normal single dose, which would make sense for
Nyssa.

Thanks,

roger
