This could be caused by a number of things, the most
common of which would be insulinoma and lymphosarcoma.
I would get him to the vet and have his blood glucose
checked as insulinoma would account for everything
besides the one sided weakness. The vet can also
palpitate and see if there are any obviously enlarged
lymph nodes and do some blood work. While you can't
diagnose lymphosarcome without being invasive
(aspirating lymph nodes, biopsy) the blood work and
exam may give clues if that is the problem.

of his rear legs, more on one side than the other, the
answer is "no", though there can be clots thrown that
have similar effects. As it turned out Avon did have
lymphosarcoma which went into his spinal column. He
NOT suggesting that your ferret's situation is nearly
as serious.

In any case, nobody here is going to be able to
diagnose your little one without examining him. I'd
get him to a good, ferret knowledgable vet, probably
sooner rather than later.

The usual disclaimer applies... I am not a vet, just a
moderately experienced ferret owner who has seen
something very similar more than once.

All the best,
Caity and the super seven
