Hi, I hope someone can give me some advice. We got our first ferret Moki i=
n dec. For the first few days we had him he had mucous in his stool. His =
stool had been normal for about 5 days up until we went to the vet. Our reg=
ular was on vacation and the vet that examined him said that since it had c=
leared up and he was acting healthy and eating good it was probably just du=
e to stress from the move. His BM's were normal until we got Capi 2 weeks =
ago. He also had intermittent mucous in his stool for the first 2 days and=
then it was normal again until 3 days ago he had 2 BM's that were almost p=
ure mucous. After Capi moved in Moki had about 3 BM's with small amounts o=
f mucous but most were normal. They have both been noticably gaining weigh=
t. As of yesterday their eating and activity levels dropped. They saw the =
doctor today. He did fecal floats and said there was no sign of giardia or =
coccidia but Capi had high bacteria count and high white blood count. Moki=
had normal WBC but even more bacteria. He gave me albon for treatment. H=
ere are my questions. =

1. He didn't elaborate on the WBC...I'm sure this is something I need to be=
concerned about and have further testing done.
2. What is the normal course for albon treatment? He said 1cc 2xday until =
finished (about 10 days). Does this sound right? What is the average time i=
t takes to notice improvements? =

3. If they are not improving within the normal time. What further testing =
should I have done? =

4. My cat shows no symptoms but sould I get albon for her as well? =

Sorry about the long post and I know these are all questions I should have =
asked my vet. He seems like he knows what he's doing but he doesn't commun=
icate so well. Thanks for any advice.
