Just from my experience. A CBC and a chem panel is enough.
If they are normal, or even if slightly anemic then should
be fine for surgery.

If obvious signs of adrenal disease, then no real need for other
investigations.
Once inside can explore around and check the pancreas, look at both
adrenals,etc.

In my neck of the woods adrenal surgery itself can cost anywhere from
$400 to $1000 depending on the vet. This includes the cost of
one biopsy sent out, anesthesia, and vet cost.

You can look around, there may be equally qualified vets in your
area that can do the job for a drastic difference in costs.

Remember to ask the right questions, find out how much experience
the vet has, ask a local ferret shelter and other ferret owners in
the area who they recommend. You can also ask
if planning on doing laser or cryo surgery, if EKG or monitoring
is included or being offered, if servo or iso is used as the inhaled
anesthetic, if will be staying at the vet for monitoring over night
or 2 days post op,etc. All of these things can cost more to the
vet and therefore, cost the client more. It really is most
important to find a vet who you are
comforable with, who will explain things to you well, and
who has a good track record when it comes to ferret surgeries.

If this is the best vet, with the best outcomes or the only qualified
vet in your area, you may also inquire about a payment plan, etc.

Good luck,
