I suspect that your ferret is on Prednisone instead of Prednisolone sicne you mention tablets.
Predipred, aliquid formulation, is a form of prednisolone (which skips the liver processing step of Prednisone so is more effectve for some ferrets) or you can have a compounding pharmacy make a very concentrated and flavored syrup.
If you go into the Files section at

then click on the Reference Shelf file you will find a file inside there which lists compounding pharmacy that help ferrets. Many ship.
That really does sound like you could be seeing a blockage.
