I have to second the recommendation for Dr. Cottrell outside of Gainesville. Probably THE top ferret vet in all of Florida and definitely worth the trip from wherever you're at.
She just got married last month and had a name change, so if you ask around about a Dr. Cottrell, most people will probably say, "Who?"
