You are speaking about pressure treated lumber, used only in the sub framing
of houses. All the interior framing is standard, kiln dried wood. No
poisons can be used where children or animals can reach it.

Arsenic pressure treated woods can be identified by their greenish color and
is referred to as CCA lumber. What that stands for is: Copper napthanate,
w/arsenic and chromium. Very poisonous.

Another pressure treated lumber is called Naturewood and is tan in color.
It is a copper/ammonia salt based lumber. Also very poisonous.

Lastly, a type of pressure treated lumber that is gaining in popularity and
is not considered a hazmat item, is the boric acid treated lumber. It is
usually a pinkish color. Safe for the home and the environment.

Just don't buy pressure treated woods for anything doesn't touch dirt or
sill and you will be safe.

across a question that needs answering. Lumber used to be treated
chemically with an arsenic based product, does this pose any potential
problems as far as odor or God forbid a ferret chews the wood while
playing?? They are now using a copper based chemical to treat wood will
this pose any problems?? any help with this is greatly appreciated.
