I had one recently that had gall bladder obstruction but in this age ferret
I don't think so, but the weight loss, the lethargy, the other symptoms sond
like a hairball in the stomach and if they don't find anything specific he
is prob a good candidate for an exploratory. His blood sugar is probably
low too because he is not eating and not because of insulinoma. He prob
needs hospitalization, iv fluids with dextrose to build him back up, plus
the diagnostics of course (x rays and bloodwork) which I am sure your vet
will take care of. More then likely he will need to be opened to see what
is happening inside. He is only 1 year old and the top differential is
obstruction. The hair loss may be due to the stress of his illness and
will hopefully resolve once the primary problem is found and treated. Good
Luck and keep us informed.
