I'm not real sure why the vet didn't start her on diuretics. I even called the office back to see if the medication she gave me had it, but no, it is a steroid and antibiotics. They said the steroid would act somewhat as a diuretic? Is that true? It didn't make a lot of sense to me, I think she said she wanted to try and clear the lungs a little first before dealing with the heart. She has also been dehydrated and she didn't want to aggravate that any more right now. I hope the vet knows what she is doing, she does deal with a lot of ferrets and certainly has had cardiac patients. I'm supposed to try this tactic for 3 days and if there is no improvement then I think it will be the diuretic. Anyway, I know I am somewhat confused by it all. (So what else is new? Ha!)
