I posted this message while I was waiting on the call back from the Animal Poison Control folks...it was never my intention to wait on a response from this board before proceeding to professional vet care in person. That being said...

Animal Poison Control told us what we already suspected, that this is a serious concern and to go directly to the vet and have the vet call them for treatment directions. They also gave us instructions on how to try to get her to vomit. Before we could do that she vomited on her own, but there was no sign of a pill. On the way to the vet, we tried to induce (per instructions) but to no avail.

The vet has her and at this point and conferred with Poison Control. The vet administered activated charcoal and we are waiting to hear more later in the day.

I can't be 100% sure she actually ate the tablet as I didn't see her eat it. I caught her licking a tablet where I knew there had been 2 tablets. I threw away the one she was licking on and couldn't find the 2nd pill. So the assumption we are working from is that she ate the other one. It is possible that she hid it. But, I didn't want to take any chances with something as potentially serious as this.

Can anyone walk me through what could happen next for my ferret? What questions should I be asking?

Thanks-

Kelly

So, did you call Animal poison control? (888-426-4435) The ASPCA's animal poison control is probably your best bet when something like this happens. Waiting for an answer from a list like this when time is of the essence is not a good idea.
