Hi, everyone,
Podo is a 9.5 year old neutered male ferret. He has
insulinoma (controlled with pediapred) and all the
classic symptoms of adrenal disease. He had a very
large right adrenal tumor which involved the vena cava
fully removed two years ago (conventional surgery,
vena cava ligation) and, until recently, has been
symptom free. Due to his advanced age and problems
with the anaesthesia after his insulinoma surgery (his
heart stopped but he was revived) we have decided that
he is not a surgical candidate. Our vet has ordered
lupron.
Podo went back to the vet today. He's been coughing
quite a bit. He's going back for an x-ray so our vet
can look at his lungs.
Here's the catch in all of this: Our vet wants to
postpone giving him lupron until we know what is
causing the coughing. I wasn't aware of any
contraindiciations for lupron or any side effects.
I'd like to know what he might be worried about.
Today was a bad day to ask. He was insanely busy.
Here's the question: when is giving lupron a bad
idea?
Thanks,
Caity and the super seven
