I wonder if there could also have been a restricted calorie
intake effect going on--if less of the food is digestible,
then the ferret is presumably getting fewer calories from
the same amount of food. Not, of course, that I advocate
feeding cheap foods in order to follow a restricted calorie
intake diet--it's just something that occured to me.

Regina (who would rather live a shorter life with less
crankiness than a longer life of hunger, personally)
