Jasper is missing the toe on the back right paw...it's the second toe. His medical exam was excellent according to his vet, other than allergies. She didn't even mention anything about muscle tone, but I did my own comparisons as I watch him grow.

Could the fact that he was slightly obese growing up and lethargic at that time cause his poor muscle tone? Right now, he is very energetic and is at the proper weight. His diet consists of Zupreem Premium Ferret diet.

His vet has him on Pedia pred right now, due to a possible asthma attack from allergies. As far as your question about how extreme his sacropenia(muscle tone) is, he plays, runs, jumps, climbs normally with the exception of his slight problem with balance. I just don't understand why he isn't like the other ferrets in our house as far bodily firmness.

The only time he was firm was when I got him at 7 months old and he started losing the firmness as he got fatter and less energetic.(that was my fault for lack of knowledge on what a ferret should eat. I was a new ferret parent with Jasper)

I'm going to call his vet and ask her what she thinks, but I would really appreciate knowing what your opinions are.

Thanks so much.

Sue
