Bad news from my vet. He suspects that Opie, who I rescued last fall, has ADV. The fear that raced through my body when I heard those letters is unbelievable. Not only do I have another ferret at home, but the thought of not having any more ferrets is enough to send me over the edge.

I have found a plethora of great information on the Internet and am grateful for that, but, I'd like to know if there is any information about how long the virus can live in your house once all of my ferrets are gone. Is this the end of me having ferrets? Or can I, after a period of time, have more?

I've also been thinking about being an ADV mom (seems logical right?) but am a little uneasy about "volunteering" for guaranteed regular vet bills (like I don't have them already!).

And boy, oh boy, am I looking forward to calling my friends with ferrets that ferret sit for me (and I for them). Thats really going to stink.

Lisa
