Hi Marie,
What you are describing sounds logical.
In the older ferrets with liver damage, the liver may
no longer be able to make glucose from the protein.
Thus adding glucose to the diet helped compensate for
the liver dysfunction. When we remove a liver lobe or part
of a liver lobe (ie right adrenal gland removal), sometimes
we have to add dextrose to the fluids or give it orally for
the first day.
