The newest batch that the shelter I work with uses have had a pink flush
all
along the test window- and almost thought was positive, but looking
really
close at where the positive line was it was next to that we saw the
flushing,
faint line. Avecon replaced the questionable kits without problem.
The others I used would clear up really nice, and only leave the control
line
lit up, no pink flushing at all.

We also sent in the same questionable tests to avecon to run their ELISA
test
on and they did come back negative. We send in the backup test anyhow,
either to united or avecon and use the instant test mainly to screen new
surrenders
before we actually take them into the shelter. That way we can pick up
any false negatives.

If you have a clear test with just a faint test line ( ie, no pink
flushing), then I would wonder if
another protein in their saliva is being picked up or interfering.
Perhaps run a control test of either the send in saliva or united blood
test on
maybe 3-5 of the ones that are questionable. That way won't cost you tons
of money.

If you email avecon, they may be able to help you.
