I'm not sure exactly what disease, the vet is assuming ECE. The ferret appeared fine when I went to work that night but when I came back in the morning (my shift was 18 hours) my Mam said he hadn't moved about much so we took him straight to the vets. He had a temp of 105, greenish, slightly bloody diarrhoea, distended abdomen and difficulty breathing. He was kept in, put on a drip and given antibiotics (again, I'm not sure what drugs were given) but his condition deteriorated and his breathing got worse so the vet rang me for my permission to euthanase, which I gave. He was at least 11 years old, neutered and had no history of illness, he was actually booked in for a dental next week. Hope this further information is of use to someone. Thanks for the link Sukie, it was very informative.
