Subject: Incidence of Ferret Diabetes

Is it just my imagination, or is there an increase in the number of ferrets showing up with diabetes?
Not just from looking at 'Ferret Health List', but I have also looked at a large number of ferret sites and groups. And I could almost swear that the number of incidences of ferret diabetes is increasing.
What could be causing this? Inbreeding? Diet? What?
I would very much like to insure that my babies don't ever have to go thru with that.
