I have a ferret who is an eight year old male who has recently been diagnosed with a cancerous tumour on his left kidney. According to the vet his right kidney is unaffected and still functioning properly. When the vet diagnosed the illness he told me there was no cure and gave me steroids to ease Bandit's frequent urination. However as I was shocked to recieve this news I didn't think to ask if was possible to operate and remove the kidney and have him live on only one. I was wondering if it was and what would be the chances of a full recovery bearing in mind his old age? Apart from his illness he has never had any other problems and is fit and active.
