We use the wood stove pellets as litter and it works great! It has a
plesant smell on its own and controls oders well. You just need to be
sure it is a dried hardwood type. (This was actually the only kind Lowes
had) We pay less than $4 a bag for a 40 lb bag! It scoops easily and
we can go almost a week without having to completely change out the
litter boxes. Plus it is biodegradable so what gets washed out into the
yard doesn't hurt anything. The only problem is getting it in the
warmer months. We stocked up and got 10 bags right as they were putting
out the gardening stuff. The people at Lowes had to really look hard
for it b/c it had already been "stored away" for the summer!
Good Luck, Jane
