Subject: 2nd Insulinoma in 6 months
Message-ID: <731962.1084059199601.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>
I have a 3 year old male "Bob". He had a insulnoma removed in December and he recovered well. Over the past month or two he has lost most of his energy. So today I get the news his insulin level is way up and set up surgery for monday. His last tumor was on the top portion of the pancreas, therefore a partial pancreatectomy was not possible. Only if the tuomor is on the lower part of the pancreas can this be done. (Per my vet). Anyway it has only been 6 months and I wonder if after his surgery should he have been put on prednisone to slow down any tomor growth that might happen ? Should I do this after this surgery. Should this surgery be more complicated or is there anything elts that I should be considering?
Any input appreciated; Gina, Bob & Trixie
