Well, I'm not a vet, but I can give you my experience. Xena, who left us a
year ago February, had adrenal and insulinoma surgery. Within 3 months,
her fur had all regrown but her insulinoma symptoms were back, despite
being on pred. Sometimes, we just can't fix it. :-( From what I know,
pred won't keep the tumors from coming back; it will just level out
blood-sugar.

Just wanted to let you know. IMHO, don't second-guess yourself or ask too
many "what-if's". If the 2nd surgery goes well, though, I would definitely
keep Bob on pred. Again, not a vet, but MHO. (And for the record, with
insulinoma ferrets whose symptoms are getting steadily worse, [I don't want
to use the "t" word...] from what I understand they can be given as much
pred as their tummies will let them tolerate, if that's what's needed to
control symptoms and give better quality of life. Before she passed, Xena
was on 2cc's/day. Not 0.2, 2. She was also on diazoxide by then.)
