I usually do surgery based on the signs and symptoms, so by that time all of mine had visual glands that could be removed. If you did the tennesee panel on the last one before symptoms started, maybe then it was too soon. HOwever, with those numbers I doubt the gland will be small- and if you also have symptoms I think you can go for surgery anytime.

Remember, it may also depend on experience of the vet, it is not just the size of the gland but the feel of it, it may feel hard or abnormal and that is enough to go on for removal. IF there is a lot of fatty deposits around the glands, more time may be needed searching for them.
Plus, ectopic glands can be nearby and may also be producing the hormones.

Good luck,
Patty K

Hello Everyone,

My question is in regards to my 5 yr old MF male, whose TN panel came back with what looked like extremely high levels to me.

I'm wondering if these levels are any indication as to when to schedule surgery.

Last time I had a TN Panel done, I scheduled surgery right away and it was too soon. An enlarged gland was not found.

I am being caution this time so any help as how to know went to operate is appreciated.

Thanks,
Sharon B.
