Call your vet and express your concerns. Personally, I have never had a ferret who had major abdominal surgery that had or needed a bandage of any kind. They *usually* do quite well at not bothering the incision, though I know some have pulled the sutures out.

In some, my vet used standard suture material. In others, they sutured the inside layers but simply used surgical glue for the skin closure. In no case did they pay any attention to the incision, not to even just lick it.

So, he might do quite well without the wrap, but don't remove it without your vet's approval.
