Lysodren was pretty much abandoned for use on ferret adrenals a long time ago.
Some of the time it doesn't work. Part of those times may be due to exposure of the med to saliva or water, but it does seem to be an inherently unpredictable med in ferrets.
When it does work it tends to cause atrophy of adrenal tissue, including the adrenal which is okay so further medical problems can occur. (We went through this over a decade ago and almost lost him a few times to resulting crises.)
Chances are your vet was thinking Lupron (which is a far, far more useful drug). Propecia/Proscar as well makes sense when the prostate is up, BTW.
If you go to http://fhl.sonic.weasel.org and search on
adrenal
with the from box saying
AFERRETVET
you'll get the latest to share with your vet.
Being so unused the med only rarely gets mentioned. You are likely to find things about it in the FHL Archives and the FML Archives:

and

What is being done for the heart? What TYPE of problem was it? (Name and which chambers involved if known) Is a heart ultrasound being discussed?
