My ferret has had hind leg weakness since last Saturday. The vet has done a blood fasting test, which showed normal, CBC: normal, he did an xray which showed his spine and other bones intact and uninjured, but there was a little whitish in the heart/lung area, so he's put Bear on amoxicillin plus the pediapred that he's been on for nearly a week. He also is running a heart worm test just to be sure.

My vet seems stumped. Bear's hair is thinning out on his sides and the vet was sure it was insulinoma, but the test came back o.k. He chews in that area, so it's hard to tell if he's barbering the hair short or if it is actually falling out.

Any ideas what could be causing this? Some days he walks a little better than others, but he's never 100%, the hind leg weakness came on quite suddenly.
