The discussion about toothpastes reminds me of what happened a few years ago
to my little Baby. I purchased a bottle of Marshall's ferret toothpaste with
baking soda. It is a semi-liquid paste in a squeeze bottle, so I squeezed
some out on the countertop in the kitchen and brushed the teeth of several
ferrets. In the rather small place we were renting the sofa was against the
breakfast bar of the kitchen and the ferrets often would climb up on the
countertop. Baby got in to the leftover toothpaste, lapped it up, and
proceeded to lie around feeling pretty miserable. When I saw her like that I
took her to the vet who figured she had a bad case of stomach gas from the
soda reacting with stomach acid. It took a while but that finally passed and
she was fine after that. Now I use the little sample packs of poultry
flavored enzymatic toothpaste by C.E.T. the vet has out for samples. They
all like the flavor and it helps a lot. I brush them with a short white
brush from C.E.T. or a small extra soft baby brush.
