Dianna,
Hi im Susan i dont post much but last week my ferrets Maxwell and Faroke came down with the caugh and and I finaly took them to my vet who been working with ferrets for years now but any ways she took an x-ray of them both and they had upper respatory infection they wound up staying at the vet for 2 days til they got better they was put on amoxil ped drops and torbugesic for cough. we have had changes of the weather from cold to hot then storms and cold then it was warm again the next day so maybe your little one needs to see his dr to make sure he dont have that upper resporty infection thats going around. i have 6 other ferrets and i have had to make sure that the boys stay away from the others so they dont get sick. i had been trying to treat them for hair balls too but it wasnt it. Thought Id let u know what happened to me and my boys.. Susan

My 4.5 year old female ferret, Coco, has started coughing. It has been going on for the last week. It pretty much started the same time everyone was shedding. I've been giving all four, hairball medicine, but Coco is the only one with this cough. It is a very dry, deep, loud cough. I took her to the vet on Saturday and he has her on .25ml of Clavamox twice a day. It is now Monday and she is still coughing. She does it at least 3 to 4 times a day. I guess I'm confused, because if its a viral infection why arent my other ferrets coughing? Also, as soon as I hear her coughing I give her a couple of drops of ferretone and she stops. The vet said her heart and lungs sounded good, but wanted her on the antibiotic just in case. Does this make sense to anyone?

Thanks!
Dianna
