Aluminum hyydroxide (AlOH) is not found in pepto bismol. It used to be
available over the counter as Ampho Gel or Alternagel, but no longer. It is
found is some antacids but generally combination products and you need to
label read. I would check with the vet again. Labs wouldn't hurt and may
find something but more then likely they won't. If you would like to be
safe and sure just ask your vet to run some tests, esp a CBC to see if there
is anemia. Also ask your vet what his purpose for prescribing the AlOH for.
I mostly have used it for elevated phosphorous to decrese it but my guess
is they are looking for the antacid action, I don't know why he would want
both. Good Luck.
