I have done quite a few bilaterals that did not need supplementation and
both glands totally identified on histopath. I think some require
supplentation and others have an alternate source for mineralcorticoids.
Most are placed on prednisolone post op if both are removed but I have been
fortunate with not needed the others. I know other vets on this list have a
totally opposite response and the ferrets all become Addisonian and require
additional meds. I make teh owners aware of what to watch for and so far we
have done well over years times. So just my experiences.
