Our vet has something which is like a plexiglass aquarium and they put comfy bedding in it. It is large enough for a ferret to move around in. Our ferrrets don't mind it and they got curious enough about the gas odor that they stick their noses right up there and take great big whiffs. It works great without distress for them.
