That is the euthanasia method we've personally seen as usually being least stressful of those used over the years for all involved. I guess we've run into four or so different approaches being used over the years.

For something like short term anesthesia for tests and the like we've found the ferrets to not mind the tank arrangement our vet has at all. In fact, ones who have used it before showed no dislike of the tank in thier future; I think it was a short of smell-a-"vision" for them.
