Subject: What the heck is wrong with her eye...

please see the photo albums for a picture of my ferret cinnamons right eye.=
the other night (tues 5/25/04) it looked like just a lil eye gunk under th=
e top lid. i tried wiping it out but i couldnt. then the night before last =
(wed 5/26/04) i looked at it and it was all caked shut. so i took a faceclo=
th soaked with hot water and wiped the gunk off and she opened her eye and =
it had a thick gray haze over it. then yesterday morning (thurs 5/27/04) i =
took her to the vets. we cleaned it the same way at the vets. but yesterday=
it looked like a bubble slightly protruding out of her eye. it also looks =
a lil bloody. he tired wiping some of the stuff off with a q-tip and it see=
ms some blood came out of the bubble. the vet gave me some medicine and put=
some of the same stuff on at the vets office. the name of the medicine is =
neomycin and polymyxin b sulfate and bacitracin opthalmic ointment usp. he =
told me to do the same procedure (hot cloth and medicine) 3 times a day for=
10 days. anyways yesterday afternoon she couldnt even shut her eye. it was=
caked open. the this morning (5/28/04) it was shut but still had caked on =
stuff on it. once i cleaned it she opened it. the bubble doesnt look as bad=
but its still there and you cant see the black of her eye. the vet said he=
thinks its conjunctivitis or however you spell that. i just wanted to know=
your thoughts on what this may be. what might have caused it. and also wha=
t medicines are recommended. thank you. and if you cant help me please dire=
