Subject: funny lump in the tummy

I noticed a few days ago that Kiki has a wierd flat lump in his tummy. It's closest to his hind legs, south of he boy parts. It's about the size of a Ritz cracker and the same wierd round flat shape. I has very firm hard edges. Kind of like he swallowed a frizbee. He is also loosing fur on his tail, but I'm hoping that's a seasonal thing. (praying really). The lump is mostly gone now, with just a little hard spot in the same area. Any idea what that is? I just put advantage flea and tick drops on all five about a week to ten days ago.
(I really don't want to take him in to the vet. The last time I took one of my precious babies in there, she dies 24 hours later from surgery).
