I thought I would ask if you might have any opinion on what could be going =
on with my little weasels as my veterinarian and I are absolutely stumped a=
nd have been for months. It all started back in December when ferret #1, M=
issy, nearly died from a mysterious illness that caused almost complete liv=
er shut down and severe stomach ulcers. Amoxil and Flagyl wasn=92t helping=
because she was so far gone, but finally between SQ fluids and antibiotics=
, Carafate and A/D, she finally came around again. About a month ago, ferr=
et #2, Pepper, picked up beginning symptoms (diarrhea and lethargy) so I im=
mediately took her in and sure enough she had the elevated liver levels so =
we put her on Amoxil and Flagyl for 10 days and she=92s back to her normal =
playful self but we still haven=92t resolved the diarrhea so we=92re lookin=
g at another 10 days of amoxil and flagyl to try and clear that up. To my =
utter and complete frustration, ferrets #3 and #4 (Cracker and Lucky) are s=
tarting to get the diarrhea and Missy=92s stool is getting loose again too!=
We have run blood and stool tests and no parasites or bacteria/viruses ar=
e showing up. Do you have any idea of what could be causing this? Can you=
think of any exotic microbes we should be testing for? Thank you so much =
for any help or referrals you may be able to provide...
