I've heard of gastric torsion in one ferret if I recall correctly, but never splenic torsion. Can't say I've ever heard this was common in dogs, though I think gastric torsion is somewhat common in large breed, deep chested dogs.

They had their first vet appointment yesterday.....
they both got a clean bill of health
Miss Itt is 3 pounds(she has already lost some weight since I got her, but
not sure how much but i can tell) he says she is going to be a 2pounder since
she is long and over all big and she is about 10 months old
Glacier is 2.6 pounds he said he is going to more then likely be a 4 pounder
since he is only about 7 months old and already this big...the sneeze is more
then likely from the pine/ceder bedding that they were on when i got them
because he heard no signs of respitory problems and there are no ear mites so it
seems to be an allergy of somesort.
I tried them in the big cage last night with the rest of my clanbut there
were some problems with Lurch and Morticia not getting along with them so I put
Lurch and Morticia in the little cage and Miss Itt and Glacier in the condo
with the rest and they had a good night from then on.....today i let them all out
to play together and there was some fighting between Morticia and Lurch with
Miss Itt and Glacier but it seems to be getting better....
While they were all out I noticed Fester playing with teh other ferrets and
when i mean playing he was trying to wreasle with them and chasing them and
going in the tubes. This is something he has NEVER done. So either he is
finally learning to play or he is really starting to feel much better.
