A recent discussion focused on poisonous plants, especially the peace
lily, which is not really a lily but a member of the arum family, like
jack-in-the-pulpit. I found this information from a link from the news.
Dieffenbachia is a similar plant. I wouldn't keep either one where animals
might get them.
