The only thing that I can add to what Sukie said is that you should check
their ears for any kind of discharge. All of my guys had puss/blood
discharges from their ears. Last December I had a terrible viral outbreak
which started out with "cold" symptoms - coughing, sneezing, ect. Each one
would be down for about a day and them seem like they were recovering. They
all went through it, but some of them were horribly affected by it while
others only ever had the "cold" symptoms which eventually went away.
Watch them very carefully. I lost one to this damn virus and have three
others who have permanent neurological afflictions - head tilts, motor
coordination problems, ect. The ear problems came from a secondary bacterial
infection. While you can't do much about viruses, you can treat bacterial
infections. I recently lost of one my guys with the neuro problems.
I don't mean to sound alarmist, but the whole ordeal my guys went through
with this particular virus was horrible. There were so many things I wish I
could have known and done differently. This might sound like a "duh", but I
would watch them carefully and get them to an experienced ferret vet to get
checked out.
I wish you and your guys the best of luck.
