Hi,
This is a follow-on post to some of my earlier posts in the last month (ECE,'chomping'). After several weeks (3+) of Amoxidrops (50mg/15ml) @ 0.12cc 2x a day and Metronidazole (2+) (125mg/ml) @ 0.1cc 2x a day, our ferret is still not getting any better, and in fact is getting worse.
She no longer eats anything but some Nutri-Cal off my finger, drinks very little from a small dish (or via syringe which we have to force into her - no more than 5ml a day). She constantly vomits a mucousy, almost brown-like liquid and does nothing but sleep. She has also started to become very agressive towards the other ferrets we have (they have been seperated since she was sick, but this is the exact opposite of what she used to do).
I fear we are nearing the end of the road with her. She is wasting away, has very prominent hips and looks terribly sad. We force medicine into her 2x a day only to see her scratch at her mouth, foam at the mouth, then vomit anything we give her. She then wants only to lay down, sleep and be left alone.
Is there anything else we can do for her, or is it more humane to put her to sleep?
Thanks everyone.
