Elizabeth, there simply is no substitute for vet care, and providing medical care is just a part of haivng animals in the family.

you will find links to help you locate a vet.

Refusal to eat is a symptom which needs ot be taken seriously and investigated.

If you are short of funds ask if the vet will allow you to pay over time, or will allow you to work off part of your cost in chores. There are people who have done everything from web design to cage cleaning to cooking to help offset costs. Other have sold some possessions.

There just is no substitute for veterinary care.
