Subject: Lupron reactions? and when is too old or too much for surgery?
Message-ID: <1120328.1086707039877.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>
Hi everyone,
I'm hoping to get some input from the professionals here. I have a 6 yr old=
MF boy currently on lupron since Jan 2004. He underwent right adrenal surg=
ery 4/22/03 then had spleenectomy and hairball removal 11/14/03.(at special=
ty hospital in Philadelphia) During that surgery it was discovered that his=
left adrenal was enlarged, but they got an irregular heartbeat before adre=
nal gland could be removed they brought him out of anesthesia. I was too ne=
rvous to schedule another surgery since 2 majors in one year.(also my reg v=
et did not feel comfortable doing another surgery on him in that time span)=
Lately my boy has started chewing himself pretty bad in his rear legs. He =
has small scab like patches on his body. My regular vet did a fungal cultur=
e 2 wks ago and it came back negative. She now has suggested taking him off=
lupron to see if that's what's causing the problem. She has also suggested=
a biopsy which I can understand. I just don't want to take him off the lup=
ron unless surgery is an option but also don't want to lose him!! Anyone ev=
er had reactions to lupron?? Is my baby a poor surgical candidate?? Any hel=
p would be greatly apprectiated.
Thanks,
Lisa
