I suggest talking to your vet again about Biaixin and carafate. They
should be in the new edition of the "pink book" (can anyone confirm
that?). You could be causing more harm than good by stressing your
ferret with the metronidazole.

will find 3 treatment options. Two are based around Clarithromycin (Biaxin):
Clarithromycin 12.5mg/kg q8h PO with Ramitidine bismuth citrate 24 mg/kg q 8h
PO, OR a Clarithromycin, Omeorazole, and Metronidazole combo. We've personally
used Clarithromycin and Amoxi.]
