I tried that with my boy last year... he was much more docile about
everything than the little spitfire I'm dealing with this time, but
even he wouldn't voluntarily eat anything one it had been
'contaminated' by metronidazole. (I'm half tempted to taste the stuff
myself, just to see how bad it really is... ;-)

Some good news though... projectile vomiting her medication or not,
the little girl has started putting on some weight in the last couple
days. I need to cook up another batch of chicken gravy for her this
week.

I'm actually going to the "ferret clinic" in town. Alaska is a little
short on specialists. But if I can't get through to him this time, I
may go looking for a totally ferret-ignorant vet who is at least
willing to take suggestions on medication. I gave him contact
information for Dr. Williams last year, who's website mentions his
willingness to consult with vets who contact him... didn't make a
difference.

Can anyone point me to an online veterinary citation (besides the
info Dr. Williams' website, which I printed and brought in to the
vet's office last year) that recommends carafate/biaxin for ferrets?
And/or can anyone confirm that it IS recommended in the new 'pink
book'?

I'd like to bring in some more 'backup' with me when I go talk to the
him. Something that can help push past that, "I have a degree and you
don't" barrier when I request the alternate medication this time.
