There is some good posts here about ECE, try a search in the archives
under
diarrhea or green poop, something like that because ECE will bring you
every post with the letters ECE within words too.

ECE itself lasts only about 2 weeks, there is a wasting phase some go
into
that lasts up to 6 weeks. Some ferrets that had it very severe, will go
on
to have damage to their intestines and be prone to bouts of diarrhea with
stress,
etc. Maybe even be the cause of some of those inflammatory bowel
diseases???

Anyway, once they get it, seems they are immune but can shed the virus
for up
to 9 months, so they could infect a ferret that never had it before if
exposed to them.

6 months is too long, if this is one ferret I would wonder if originally
ECE or something else,
Did it start just like ECE would, maybe a few days after taking home a
new ferret the
other ferrets got the diarrhea? And the original ferret was fine? If
more than
one ferret- it would be unusual to be inflammatory bowel disease,
so I would also make sure stool studies rule out
coccidia or other organisms.
What tests were done? Change of diet tried?

Oh, and how often are the poops abnormal? If one time a week, then
nothing to really
worry about, if daily then start looking for other causes.
Are you sure more than one, or could it be just one ferret with the
diarrhea?
