My ferret Scooter has been diagnosed with Crypto. I thank GOD for the
great vets we take our fuzzies to. He has a swollen lymph node that they
took an aspirate of . Came back as crypto, I don't think many vets would
have caught this. My routine now, if a fuzzy is sick, is to do a CBC and
x-ray. And from there we usually have some kind of idea what is going
on. I no longer accept the "lets try antibiotics and see what happens."
I would try to find out what type a fungus was found on your other
ferret, they should have identified it. If not they should have a sample
in a bank, ask for it to be identified. My vet said that it wouldn't be
transfered between animals. It is contracted by inhalation of the
spores. Many cases are found during necropsy.
