Subject: Hecubus has anemia
Message-ID: <5446034.1088887751037.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>

Hecubus is my 4 year old male who recently developed a difficulty urinating and was placed on septra. 7 days later I dipped and did an unspun microscopic on his urine which showed +3 lueks, +2protein and >+3 blood with few bacteria. He was becoming lethargic, and wasn't eating so my vet drew blood and showed me the smear. You could count the RBCs on two hands and seemed to have an over abundence of platlets. My vet estimates his hematocrit to be about 3%. We are assuming some kind of luekemia. His xrays were completly normal but his weight has dropped from 2.6 lbs to 1.8 in six days. We have started him on prednisone and vits c fe. If anyone has any ideas or experience with this I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks, Tina
