HeyHeyHey,

I have a female jill who has just turned 6 years old. Approximately 1.5 ye=
ars ago she had a left adrenal gland removed. As there is not a good vet i=
n this vicinity, my shelter operator friend took her to the shelter vet and=
then post op'd her for aout 4 or 5 days. =

Jubilee took the surgery very hard. According to my friend she displayed e=
very symptom of DIC. As there was nothing open at the onset of symptoms an=
d having experience with DIC, my friend gave several very aggressive doses =
of Dex and antibiotics. Jubilee did pull thru but has taken over a year to=
get back to her alpha self in her attitude, playfullness etc. Also many o=
f her adrenal symptoms remain.

The problem is that altho she has had repeated lupron injects, both 1 month=
and 4 month, she still has a swollen vulva. Her hair has just now started=
growing back. She also had a uti that has been treated the last 5 months =
with antibiotis. The last round lasting 2 months and being a combo of bayt=
ril and clavamox. Her uti consisted of brown urine with high blood content=
and high ph and a discharge. Her bun was in normal range. Her food was s=
witched and cranberry added to address the high ph. Her urine has cleared =
up finaly from a brown color and returned to yellow, however the vulva is s=
till quite swollen. Behavior and appetite are excellent and almost kit lik=
e in energy. She is going to a most excellent vet this Friday for all kin=
ds of tests, cbc, ultrasound, etc etc etc.

If we should find after the testing that Jubilee needs surgery again, are t=
here any opinions on whether or not there is a good possiblitiy of DIC retu=
rning? Will we cause death by doing a surgery to avoid death? I understan=
d that there are not concrete answers to this question. I am looking for e=
ducated opinions? Any input is welcome from vets and lay folks alike.

Thanks in advance,

Karen and the Scruff you Gang
