Speaking of blood transfusion options, I had a chat with my vet during Boo's
disseminated Intravascular Coagulation nightmare about the possibility of a
transfusion. There is a man-made blood product available that is used
across species (cats, dogs, birds, etc.) completely compatible with ferrets.
I was nearly faced with subjecting one of my other ferrets as a donor or
using the alternative product, as it would have taken about 2 days to ship
in actual ferret donor blood. Thankfully, Boo didn't require a transfusion,
but I could call my vet and get the brand name of the product if you think
it may be of assistance.
